Oyster Bay, NY – Oyster Bay High School held a ribbon-cutting and unveiling ceremony of new spaces for learning and growth on May 10.
A new professional broadcast studio, cOllaB space, and innovation lab were open for all attendees to walk around the state-of-the-art rooms that were planned and designed by BBS Architects. The complete transformation of traditional classrooms into modern educational environments included integrating 3D printers that support various learning projects, from robotics to innovative devices like robot launchers and claws. The new innovation lab is also a hub for activities like coding, 3D printing, and robotics, emphasizing teamwork and hands-on learning.
The ceremony also featured a surprise guest, former News 12 Anchor, Carol Silva, who was really impressed by the school’s new professional-grade broadcast studio. Designed to the specifications of the school’s daily “Bay News Now” program, the studio offers students real-world experience in broadcasting, production, anchoring, as well as managing A/V technical and control equipment.
“These new spaces are really incredible,” said Oyster Bay High School Principal Melissa Argaman. “What I love about this school is that you see this almost 100-year-old building and you wouldn’t expect to see a state-of-the-art broadcast studio inside; we combine the new with the old here, and I think that is so special.”
Under the guidance of BBS Architects, the new spaces at Oyster Bay High School reflect a forward-thinking approach to education – with the emphasis on creating dynamic and interactive learning opportunities. By providing students with access to advanced technology and collaborative workspaces, the school is nurturing the next generation of innovators and leaders.
