Patchogue, NY – The Patchogue-Medford School District is preparing to break ground on an exciting new addition and renovation project that will transform the Bay Elementary School and better serve Patchogue residents for years to come. Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of summer 2026, just in time for the start of the 2026–2027 academic year.
This exciting project will bring (8) brand-new classrooms, (2) renovated music rooms, and expanded spaces to support the school’s growing music program. Students and staff can also look forward to a larger, upgraded kitchen and cafeteria, complete with improved ventilation for a more comfortable and efficient dining experience.
One of the highlights of the our design is an internal courtyard, which will provide a safe, functional outdoor learning space right in the heart of the Bay Elementary School. In addition, students will enjoy new play areas, a basketball court, and relocated swings that will make the school grounds more fun and accessible for everyone.

The $15.0 million project is fully funded through the District’s Capital Reserve Fund – dollars carefully saved over time through district’s smart financial management. Thanks to this planning, the upgrades are being made without any additional cost to taxpayers.
