Striking the Right Notes in Scarsdale

Scarsdale, NY – The renovation of the Scarsdale High School Auditorium has been successfully completed, revitalizing a well-used space that serves both the school and the broader community. The project key elements originally installed during the 1980s renovation – including carpets, seating, and stage flooring – had reached the end of their useful life despite careful upkeep over the years. The work also addressed layout and functionality limitations that affected accessibility, stage operations, and overall performance quality.

The renovation has transformed the Auditorium into a more comfortable, accessible, and acoustically responsive environment. Improvements include new carpeting and seating, along with a re-raked concrete floor that enhances sightlines and audience comfort. The stage now features new flooring and permanent ramps and stairs on both sides, improving access for performers and staff. Upgrades to the catwalk system and tormenter bar access support smoother and more efficient stage operations.

Acoustic performance was a major focus of the design. Strategically placed acoustic wall treatments, a re-designed proscenium, and adjustable performance curtains along the perimeter now allow the space to support a wide range of events, from spoken presentations to musical performances. With these upgrades complete, the Scarsdale High School Auditorium is now a modern, flexible venue that better meets the needs of students, educators, performers, and the community.
