Turning the Page: A New Chapter for North High’s Library

Great Neck, NY – This project reimagined the existing Great Neck North High School Library by opening up previously compartmentalized back-of-house storage, workrooms, a computer lab, and a large quiet study area into one expansive, light-filled learning environment. The original 4,800 SF library was expanded by an additional 3,000 SF through the integration of adjacent heirloom space, allowing the program to be fully reassessed and aligned with current educational needs.

The renovated library now features two large flexible learning spaces, two smaller flex classrooms, a highly visible makerspace, and a centrally located tech desk and resource center at the entry for easy access. A variety of informal drop-down spaces support small group collaboration, alongside a charging bar, quiet study rooms, a study lounge, and a dedicated local history and music center – creating a dynamic, student-centered hub for learning, collaboration, and discovery.
