The previous 55-year-old church was demolished and the new 11,240-square-foot was built to accommodate the growing parish. The new Church building faces Merrick Avenue, is air-conditioned, fully handicapped-accessible and seats 665 people on three sides of the main altar. New parking areas and site roadways were provided to streamline the traffic flow around the new Church.
John Rossi, the Co-Chairman, Forward Together in Faith Capital Campaign for the Sacred Heart Church:
“It was one of the most satisfying moments I’ve ever enjoyed. The groundbreaking was a milestone to remember as much as the birth of my children. It was an evening filled with the legacy of this fabulous parish.”
