Energy Performance Contract (EPC) Vote in Bayport-Blue Point

Bayport, NY – As part of its commitment to ensure the proper allocation of district resources and  fiscal responsibility, the residents of Bayport-Blue Point School District approved a $12.5 million Energy Performance Contract (EPC) on October 23, 2018. After the successful vote, the district representatives thanked the entire Bayport-Blue Point School District community for the participation in the special referendum. The district will now be able to secure additional New York State building aid to support their efforts to create greener and more efficient schools in the community.

An Energy Performance Contract (EPC) is a contractual lease agreement with an energy savings company whereby energy-efficient equipment is installed on district property in exchange for energy/cost savings. The approved Bayport-Blue Point EPC will have no tax impact for the community; the cost of the project will be paid for by the energy savings. Ultimately, these savings will have a significant positive impact on the district’s annual expenses over time.
