Progress Update: Construction of the New BBP Library Reaching the Home Stretch

Blue Point, NY – Taking advantage of favorable weather conditions this Spring and Summer, construction is on-going at the site of the former St. Ursula Convent in Blue Point, NY, which is being converted into a modern, state-of-the-art public library. The 28,600-square-foot facility is undergoing a complete interior renovation including new walls, doors, windows, floors, ceilings, casework, finishes and furnishings, equipment, lighting fixtures, HVAC systems and controls, plumbing and plumbing fixtures, toilet rooms, security system, technology and security system implementation, fire suppression (sprinkler) systems, and a new elevator. Site improvements focus primarily on repaving and expanding the existing parking lot and site roadways, providing ADA accessibility throughout, site lighting, and the new Nature Explore Area.

The renovated Bayport-Blue Point Public Library is supposed to open its doors in October 2021.
