Progress Update: Florida Schools EPC

Florida, NY – As part of its commitment to sustainability and fiscal responsibility, in June 2019 the Florida Public School District solicited energy services in connection to the district-wide energy efficiency plan, or Energy Performance Contract (EPC), proposed and designed by BBS Engineers. The District was able to secure additional New York State Building Aid in support of their energy efficiency efforts, and is now in the initial stages of construction.

An Energy Performance Contract (EPC) is a contractual lease agreement with an energy savings company whereby energy-efficient equipment is installed on district property in exchange for energy/cost savings. The Florida Schools EPC has and will have no tax impact for the community – the cost of the project will be paid for by the energy savings. Ultimately, these savings will have a significant positive impact on the District’s annual expenses over time.
