West Islip High School Pool Expansion Takes Shape

West Islip, NY – Construction is well underway on the expansion and renovation of the West Islip High School aquatic facility, with the project now entering a major phase of structural construction. New steel columns, beams, and open-web steel joists are rising above the existing building, clearly defining the footprint and volume of the addition. At the pool level, excavation and reinforced concrete construction are taking shape as the existing five-lane pool is expanded to accommodate a new sixth lane. The work is carefully integrating the new construction with the existing pool facility while maintaining the building’s overall function and circulation.

The project will provide West Islip High School with a significantly improved aquatic facility, including an expanded six-lane competition pool and upgrades to the building’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems. Recent progress on the structural steel and pool expansion provides an exciting glimpse of the transformation ahead. BBS is proud to work with the West Islip Union Free School District on this important project and looks forward to seeing the new aquatic facility continue to take shape.
